Fit In, Create Out
Trying to “fit in” with your creativity isn’t selling out—it can be a strategic entry point. Early on, adapting your creative voice to align with existing norms, aesthetics, or expectations can help you build trust, credibility, and access to spaces that might otherwise feel closed off. Fitting in allows your work to be understood before it is challenged; it lowers resistance and creates familiarity, which can be essential when introducing new ideas. At the same time, it’s important to treat fitting in as a phase, not a destination—something you use intentionally to position yourself, not something that dilutes your originality. When done consciously, this approach gives you the freedom to later expand, disrupt, and evolve your creative work from within the room you’ve already earned your way into.
